Explain domains, domain names, and hosting?

Don’t worry we’re here to help with every step of the website design process. This includes domain registration, hosting, website development, testing and deployment. We’ve got you covered! Of course it doesn’t hurt to be speaking the same language so let’s briefly explain.

What is domain registration?

Domain registration is the process of registering a domain name, which identifies one or more IP addresses with a name that is easier to remember and use in URLs to identify particular Web pages. The person or business that registers  domain name is called the domain name registrant.

What is a Domain Name Server?

Domain Name Servers (DNS) are the Internet’s equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses.

What is Website Hosting?

Web hosting is a service that allows organizations and individuals to post a website or web page onto the Internet. A web host, or web hosting service provider, is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for the website or webpage to be viewed on the Internet.
